Footloose is an energetic and heartfelt musical about a teenager, Ren, who moves to a small town with strict rules and a deep-rooted fear of change. As Ren, played by Faolan Wilson, adjusts to his new surroundings, he challenges the town's conservative attitudes especially its ban on dancing and sparks a journey of self-expression, healing, and transformation. Footloose celebrates the power of music, youth, and standing up for what you believe in.

Its memorable soundtrack, including “I need a hero”, “Let’s hear it for the boy” and the iconic “Footloose,” brings high energy to the show which is perfectly matched with effective and fun choreography by Nikki Kingsley. Ariel, the rebellious teenage daughter of Reverend Shaw Moore, the strict pastor of the small town of Bomont, is portrayed by Kayleigh McGowan who takes the role in her cowboy-boot-wearing stride, with beautiful vocals allowing the soft, sensitive moments to sit perfectly alongside the bolder bursts of youthful rebellion. Another stand-out performance is delivered by Rowan Ross, who brings the perfect amount of comedy to the role of Willard both through his love for Rusty (Olivia Finlay), and his wonderful clumsiness. The excellent principal cast are supported by a talented and well-connected ensemble who bring even more playfulness and comedic flair keeping the audience laughing.

With consistent and believable American accents throughout, backed up by the costumes that seem specially made for the show, Footloose effectively twirls its viewers to 1980’s fictional Beaumont. The show’s finale is a mini mash-up that has the audience dancing in their seats and singing their way home.

Woohoo moment: “Somebody’s Eye” which was perfectly performed by Vikki Selby, Cecile Arscott and Olivia Finlay, enhancing a powerful moment in the show.
